Food & Nutrition for Patients
Patient Food and Nutrition Services prepares and delivers healthy, nutritionally-balanced food to inpatients in our hospitals, including University Hospital, the Frankel Cardiovascular Center, Von Voigtlander Women's Hospital and C.S. Mott Children's Hospital.
Our staff of registered dietitians and dietetic technicians determine the best meal options for patients based on medical condition and treatment plan, common specialized base menus, nutritional needs and individual preferences.

Room Service
Inpatient meal service is a Room Service style meal delivery program. Patients may select from menus that offer a variety of healthy, made-to-order food options that are compliant with the patient's diet prescription.
Patients and guests can call the Room Service Call Center for their hospital to place their meal order. Meal trays are delivered within 45-60 minutes of your call. Orders can also be placed in advance for a pre-set delivery time on behalf of the patient.

Guest Meals
Guests of patients may order Room Service Guest Trays for a fee. These meals are billed directly to the patient's hospital account. Please note that most insurance companies do not cover the cost of this meal.

Hospital Room Service Call Centers
Inpatient meal service is a room service style meal delivery program. Patients may select from menus that offer a variety of healthy, made-to-order food selections that are compliant with the patient's diet prescription.
Hours
The Room Service Call Center is open 6:30 am - 10:30 pm 7 days as week. To place the meal order, call 3-8080 from a hospital phone, or 734-763-8080 from an outside line. Family members can place an order in advance for a pre-set delivery time on behalf of the patient. Meal trays are delivered within 60 minutes of your call.
Breakfast items are available 6:30 - 11 am; lunch and dinner entrées are available 11 am - 10:30 pm. Please note the labeled items on the menu that are available at any time of day.
Guest Trays
Guests of patients in UH and CVC may also request Room Service Guest Trays for a fee. These meals are billed directly to the patient's hospital account. Please note that most insurance companies do not cover the cost of this meal.

Family members can place an order in advance for a preset delivery time on behalf of the patient. Meal trays are delivered within 45 minutes of your call.
Breakfast items are available until 11:00 am, and lunch/dinner selections begin at 10:30 am.

Boxed Meals Available After Hours
Special boxed meal services are available to inpatients 7:30 pm - 7:00 am and are available by contacting the Security Guest Services Specialist on the 11th floor. Boxed meals are also available to guests for a fee.

Clinical Nutrition Services
We provide nutrition assessment, intervention and counseling services for inpatients of Adult Hospitals, Von Voigtlander Women's Hospital and C.S. Mott Children's Hospital, 7 am to 4 pm, 7 days a week.
Registered Dietitian Nutritionists (RDNs) in our hospital enhance patient health through expert nutritional guidance. They assess nutrition needs, create individualized nutrition care plans, and offer counseling to support various health conditions and nutrition goals. Collaborating with the healthcare team, our RDNs manage chronic illnesses, aid in recovery, and promote overall well-being, making them essential to fostering a healthier community.
