Vulvar Diseases Clinic
Vulvar Diseases Clinic
At the Vulvar Diseases Clinic at U-M Health, we are dedicated to providing comprehensive, compassionate care for patients experiencing a variety of conditions affecting the vulva. Our clinic focuses on the diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing management of vulvar diseases, with the goal of improving your health, comfort and quality of life.
Our Approach
We focus not just on treatment but on education and empowerment. We want our patients to understand their conditions and feel confident in the management options available to them. Patients can expect the following at their appointment:
- Each new patient visit encompasses a nursing education visit, a clinical evaluation by a physician or nurse practitioner and a visit with sexual health.
- If a return visit is indicated, patients may see a different provider than their initial visit. This is to ensure quality and multidisciplinary care.
- Continuing medical education is part of our mission. Please expect a medical learner or observer during your visit.
Who We Treat
The Vulvar Diseases Clinic specializes in the evaluation and treatment of a wide range of vulvar conditions, including but not limited to:
- Vulvar dermatoses - conditions such as lichen sclerosus, lichen planus and psoriasis affect the skin of the vulva. Our clinic offers evidence-based care to manage these skin disorders.
- Precancerous lesions of the vulva - identification and treatment of human papillomavirus (HPV) of the vulva. Our team provides comprehensive screening and multimodal treatment options to ensure the best possible outcome.
- Hidradenitis suppurativa of the vulva. Comprehensive management with multidisciplinary support.
- Medical and surgical consultation for benign vulvar lesions such as cutaneous crohn’s, vulvar ulcers, epidermal inclusion cysts, extensive condyloma and lesions of unknown diagnosis.
Due to high consultation volumes, we are NOT accepting routine consultations for vulvodynia. Please request a referral or contact the Vulvodynia Clinic for your care. The Vulvodynia Clinic has locations at the Chelsea Health Center (734-475-1321) and the Dexter Health Center (734-426-2796).
