What is Ureteropelvic Junction (UPJ) Obstruction?
Ureteropelvic junction obstruction is a condition in which urine flow is blocked at the point where the kidney meets the ureter. This can lead to swelling of the kidney and impaired drainage of urine. UPJ obstruction may be present at birth or develop later in life.

What are the symptoms of Ureteropelvic Junction Obstruction?
Symptoms may include:
- Flank or abdominal pain
- Nausea or vomiting
- Urinary tract infections
- Blood in the urine
- Kidney stones
Some individuals have no symptoms and are diagnosed through imaging.
How is Ureteropelvic Junction Obstruction diagnosed?
Diagnosis may include ultrasound, CT scan, or specialized imaging to assess kidney drainage. Additional tests may be used to evaluate kidney function and severity of obstruction.
How is Ureteropelvic Junction Obstruction treated?
