The right care, at the right place for you
U-M Health provides hospital care at several locations through unique partnerships that help us make sure you get the right care for you, at the right place for you.
If you need to be hospitalized, we will recommend one of the following locations based on your individual needs and health condition.
- University Hospital on the campus of University of Michigan Health Medical Center in Ann Arbor
- Hospital Care at Home, hospital-level care provided in your home
- Chelsea Hospital, a joint venture between U-M Health and Trinity Health
- The U-M Health Service at Trinity Health Ann Arbor
Regardless of which location is recommended, your care will still be managed by U-M Health providers, in collaboration with other health care partners in the community. You can count on seamless coordination of care and exchange of information between your hospital care team and your primary care and specialist providers.
We'll Get You There
If you are being transferred from the U-M Health emergency department to one of the other locations where we provide hospital care, including your home, your transportation will be facilitated by our team. Neither you, nor your insurance, will be billed for the transfer.
Understanding Your Coverage
Our care management team will work with you to determine which locations for hospital care are covered by your insurance plan. If we find that there would be any gaps in insurance coverage, we will let you know.
Your Care, Your Choice
If your provider offers you the option to receive care at Chelsea Hospital, Trinity Health Ann Arbor, or at home through Hospital Care at Home, the choice is still yours. Your care team will answer any questions you have to help you decide about whether your care will be provided at one of our other care locations.
Rest assured that regardless of which location your U-M Health provider recommends for your hospital admission, your entire care team will work closely together to give you the excellent care you have come to expect from us.
