Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine Support Groups

The Michigan Medicine Division of Pulmonary & Critical Care Medicine sponsors several support group opportunities for individuals with lung diseases and their caregivers including the Harmonica Club, and Quest for Breath Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF) Support Group.

Playing the harmonica is fun and great exercise for your lungs. It’s open to anyone who has a breathing problem (COPD, asthma, emphysema, etc.). Participants must purchase their own harmonica.

Quest for Breath Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis Support (IPF) Support Group

The Quest for Breath IPF support group was established in 2008 through funds from Quest for Breath. A team of medical professionals facilitates the group, which features guest speakers providing up-to-date information on topics of concern to patients with IPF and their caregivers. Topics have included pulmonary function testing, sleep apnea, oxygen needs, and lung transplantation. Meetings are informal and allow time for open discussion among attendees. This format allows attendees to identify their needs, share concerns, and propose topics for future informational presentations.

The Quest for Breath IPF support group is a caring community that provides connection, support, and information. We welcome individuals living with IPF and other types of pulmonary fibrosis, and their loved ones. Read more about Pulmonary Fibrosis.

The Quest for Breath IPF support group meets on the first Tuesday of the month from 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm.

Please bring your supplemental oxygen tank(s) as they will not be provided. Complimentary beverages and snacks are provided.
