Partnering for families in the mid-Michigan Region Michigan Medicine and Sparrow Health System are committed to providing the right care, at the right time, in the right place through shared clinical goals and ensuring patients have access to specialty care options near their local communities. Our organizations have partnered to integrate pediatric services offered through Sparrow Children’s Center in Lansing.
Through our new formal partnership, Sparrow Health System and Michigan Medicine C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital are working to strengthen existing services and expand access to pediatric specialty care, while keeping services close to home for families in the mid-Michigan region. In addition, our collaboration will significantly enhance the patient experience and lead to more coordinated care for pediatric patients from around the region.

Together, we are working to improve access to specialty care so families have less need to travel, not more.
There are no changes to the existing Sparrow medical staff planned related to the new joint venture. In the future, the goal is to make additional U-M pediatric specialty care options available locally in Lansing.
The new affiliation does not impact Sparrow Health System’s relationships with insurers. Sparrow Health System will continue to contract with payers on behalf of the pediatric specialty clinics offered through the joint venture. Services provided through Sparrow Children’s Center will be billed for by Sparrow Health System. Services provided by the C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital pediatric cardiology clinic in the Sparrow Professional Building will be billed for by Michigan Medicine.
Most care you receive through providers at Sparrow Children’s Center will be managed through Sparrow’s electronic medical records systems. Care provided through the pediatric cardiology clinic can be managed through MyUofMHealth.org, Michigan Medicine’s patient portal.
Michigan Medicine providers can access medical records for patients whose care they are involved in seamlessly through the provider portal.
Yes. Sparrow remains an independent hospital with a focus on providing care for patients in the mid-Michigan region. Michigan Medicine’s goal in collaborating with Sparrow is to expand access to advanced specialty care in these communities. Philanthropic support to Sparrow Health System and the Sparrow Children’s Center will continue to be invested in providing the highest quality, compassionate health care to children and families in the mid-Michigan region.
