The University of Michigan Child Protection Team (CPT) is a multidisciplinary team dedicated to improving the identification and treatment of abused and neglected children.
The Child Protection Team promotes the safety of children and families by strengthening and coordinating the community’s response to child maltreatment issues.
Board-certified Child Abuse Pediatricians and the Child Protection Team PNP perform outpatient clinic evaluations of suspected victims of child abuse/neglect in the SCAN (Suspected Child Abuse and Neglect) Clinic.
Children in the foster care system have complex health care needs. The University of Michigan Foster Care Clinic is specialized to assess and begin to address these needs by providing comprehensive health evaluations for children entering foster care and coordinating ongoing health care for each child in a medical home during their time in substitute care. The multidisciplinary team of the Foster Care Clinic consists of members with expertise in General Pediatrics and Child Abuse Pediatrics.
