Bleeding Risk

Certain medicines and health problems can increase your risk of bleeding. They include:

  • Medicines (called blood thinners) that prevent blood clots. These medicines often are used to prevent stroke and blood clots in people at risk for those problems.
  • Bleeding disorders, such as hemophilia and immune thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP).
