The placenta is an organ  that forms during pregnancy.

Normally, the placenta is attached  to the inner wall of the uterus.

But sometimes the placenta attaches to the cervix, the lower part of the uterus  that leads to the vagina.

This is called placenta previa.

In placenta previa, the placenta  can cover all or part of the cervix.
