Exercise is really good for your heart, even if you have heart disease.
Because regular exercise helps your heart get stronger and healthier.
But maybe you worry that exercise will cause a heart attack, or that you're not strong enough to do it.
But with your doctor's help, you can learn how much exercise is safe for you and how you can get started.
Since regular exercise helps the most, do things you enjoy.
It will help you make it a habit.
So maybe you like to swim, or ride your bike. Or just take a walk.
Brisk walking is great exercise for most people.
It can get you outside, into the fresh air.
It's something you can do with family and friends or a four-legged friend.
And the little things count too, like taking the stairs instead of the elevator, or parking at the far end of the parking lot.
When you exercise, pay attention to how you feel.
Know when it's time to rest and know when to call for help.
Remember, even a little exercise is better than nothing.
A good goal is to work up to about 2 1/2 hours a week.
One way to do that is to be active about 30 minutes a day, 5 days a week.
