Medical Genetics at Domino's Farms

The Division of Molecular Medicine and Genetics provides outpatient services and consultation for the diagnosis, evaluation, management, and genetic counseling of patients and families with known or suspected hereditary diseases, and for individuals and family members concerned about the risk for such diseases. Comprehensive services are available for a wide range of diverse genetic conditions, including but not limited to the following:

• Neurofibromatosis and tuberous sclerosis
• Connective tissue disorders with early aortic disease/aneurysms, organ rupture, or bone fragility, such as Marfan syndrome or Osteogenesis Imperfecta
• Neurological disorders such as Huntington disease (HD), Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), and early-onset Alzheimer's disease
• Chromosomal disorders such as Down syndrome and Turner syndrome, as well as microdeletion/duplication syndromes
• Hereditary Hemorrhagic Telangiectasia (HHT)
• Hereditary renal syndromes, such as Alport syndrome
• Preconception counseling and carrier testing 
• Intellectual disability and autism spectrum disorder diagnosed by neuropsychiatry or developmental specialists
• Review of clinical genetic testing results previously ordered by another healthcare provider

Evaluations include review of family history, medical assessment, physical examination, genetic counseling, risk assessment, genetic testing, education services and psychosocial support, as appropriate. Through the Medical Genetics Clinic, genetic testing can be coordinated if available and indicated for diagnostic and predictive purposes. All physicians have formal training in clinical genetics and collectively have expertise representing a broad range of other disciplines including Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Clinical Genetics, Biochemical Genetics, and Pediatrics. All genetic counselors have master’s degrees from an ABGC-accredited genetic counseling training program and are licensed by the state of Michigan.
