You have been scheduled for a Red Cell Mass/Plasma Volume study which involves the use of a small amount of radioactive material. The level of radioactivity used is extremely low and has no side effects.
Patient Preparation
None.
Procedure
This study will last 3 hours. An I.V. will be placed in each arm (this is used for injecting a small amount of radioactive material and withdrawing blood samples). The blood samples will be used in calculations of results, and are drawn over the 3-hour time period.
