What is the A2 Study?
The A2 Study is a University of Michigan research project aimed at learning more about how people prepare for and recover from surgery. The purpose of the study is to test different health-focused treatments that promote wellness before and after surgery. The study will help us to learn about ways of delivering this information that is both appealing and helpful to surgical patients. We need participants like you!

Questions and Answers About the A2 Study
What will my participation look like?
If you qualify, participation in this study will take place over about one year. If you decide to join the study your surgical care will remain the same. Participation will include activities such as completing surveys, receiving health-related information, and potentially talking with a health coach or using an online health tool.
What might I get out of participation?
While not everyone in our study will benefit, you may find it useful to talk with someone about your health, including alcohol use, and meeting your personal goals. You will also receive health resources and up to $295 across the study period.
How will my information be secured?
If you join the A2 study, your information and participation will be kept confidential and secure. Information collected about you in this study (e.g., survey answers) will be stripped of you direct identifiers such as your name, address, or other personal information. Your de-identified data will be protected, following laws that protect the use of health information, and studied only for health research purposes.
